FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)

How many treatments does it take to get the best results?

The vast average number of treatments ranges from 4-8 in one area.  Sometimes treatments can be successful in less number or in greater number.  This is dependent upon a lot of things, directly the color of hair, the coarseness of the hair, the diameter of the hair and the density of hair in certain areas of the body.  Indirectly, age, race, sex, genetics, hormones, etc., are the reason our hair is the way it is.   
What is usually recommended first is a package of 6 treatments per area.  This will show how sensitive you are to the laser and how effective the treatments will be.  The direction of your treatments will be determined by the progress you make with each treatment.

What happens on the first visit and how long does each treatment take?

The first visit averages 45 minutes and consists of initial paperwork, consultation and beginning treatment.  Each appointment thereafter should take approx. 30 with larger areas going over that timeframe.

Are there any additional costs or fees associated with this offer?

There are no additional costs.  The consult will involve education and background knowledge of the laser and its effects, screening for medical conditions and/or contraindications and consent forms to treat.  Gratuity is always optional.  We do offer a topical numbing cream as an option at an extra fee if you require it.  If you miss your appointment and fail to give us you will incur a “no show” fee.

What is a “no show” fee?

If you don’t show up to your scheduled appointment or fail to give us at least 24hrs advance notice that you will be unable to make your appointment you will incur a $25 no show fee.

Can I get treatments on multiple areas on the same visit?

Yes, you can receive treatments on multiple areas in one visit, time permitting and only if you initially book the treatments together.  The appointment needs to be booked this way initially to reserve the appropriate timeframe for treatment. 

What type of lasers do you use?

We use Fotona Nd:YAG 1064 nm lasers.  They are the only lasers that can effectively target all colors of hair and all skin types.  This is very important because not all lasers are created equal.  These lasers target the hemoglobin in the follicle and not just the hair color.  Lesser lasers can only target dark hair and certain skin colors.

Why is it always written as “permanent hair reduction” and not permanent hair removal?

This is an FDA definition.  Of the hair on you body right now, you will also have approx. 15% of that number in follicles that are not mature yet.  So if you remove all of the visible hair on you body now it will be gone forever because those follicles will be destroyed.  As time goes on, those immature follicles will begin to mature and produce hair.  This will look like your hair is growing back, however it is not.  It is new hair growth and can be easily treated by the laser as needed.

Are there any medical conditions that may prevent me from getting laser hair removal treatments?

If you meet any of the contraindications our MD will go over your specific case and let you know if you are a good candidate for this type of treatment. If you are a patient with uncontrolled diabetes, are pregnant, or on blood thinners or have history of Accutane use you would not be a good candidate for this treatment until these contraindications have be addressed.

What does “bikini line” area cover?

The Bikini line is defined as up to 2 inches outside the perimeter of a bikini bathing suit and 1 inch inside the perimeter.  In contrast, a Full Brazilian style is everything covered underneath the bikini bathing suit from the pubic bone to the top of the buttocks cleavage and excludes the actual genitalia of both male and female. 

Who performs the laser treatments?

Laser treatments are performed by our MD/Surgeon or Paramedical Aestheticians.

What should I do prior to treatments?

We recommend shaving the day before your treatment and not on the day of.  This clears away any unnecessary hair length and also improves visibility of the area and helps the laser effectively target the hair follicle. No depilatory action: waxing, plucking, or chemical hair removal (Nair) at least 10 days prior to a treatment because of there effects on hair follicles.  Shaving between treatments is ok.
